Bizcap UK review

Bizcap UK is a fast short-term lender, not a cash advance: it lends £5,000 to £1m over 3 to 12 months and takes repayment by daily or weekly direct debit. It needs £12,000 of monthly revenue and publishes neither its factor rates nor its establishment fee, so a small card-taking business will usually do better with a card-linked advance.

Bizcap UK loans and terms

ProductAmount and term (Bizcap)
Fast business loan£5k to £150k over 3 to 12 months, funded same day
Small business loan£5k to £500k over 3 to 12 months, funded in 48 hours
Secured business loan£30k to £1m over 3 to 12 months; 5 months trading
Bridging finance£150k to £1m for up to 12 weeks
Line of credit£5k to £500k; 9 months trading and £20,000 monthly revenue

Two things stand out in the small print. Above £30,000 Bizcap takes a charge over the assets of the business and its guarantors, and directors may be asked for personal guarantees at any size. On the plus side, it charges nothing to settle early and says it can discount the balance if you do.

Worked example: a £20,000 loan over 6 months

  • Weekday debits over 6 months: about 130
  • Capital alone: £20,000 ÷ 130 = £153.85 a day
  • Each 0.1 of factor rate adds £2,000 in total, or £15.38 a day
  • Plus the establishment fee: not published
  • At the £12,000 minimum revenue, capital alone is £3,333 a month, 28% of revenue

That last line is the real test. A fixed debit taking more than a quarter of revenue every weekday leaves no room for a slow month, which is exactly when a card-linked advance would collect less. Before signing, ask Bizcap for the total repayable in pounds and the daily debit, and check that debit against your quietest month's takings.

Our verdict on Bizcap

Bizcap is built for speed: fast and small loans approved within 3 hours and funded the same day. That is worth paying for when a supplier deal or a tax bill will not wait. It is a poor fit for smaller card-taking businesses: the £5,000 a month shop we use in our examples is well under the £12,000 revenue minimum and would not qualify at all. For that shop, a merchant cash advance from its card provider, or the advances Square, PayPal and SumUp offer, is the realistic route.

Bizcap questions

Is Bizcap a merchant cash advance?

No. Bizcap UK sells short-term business loans and lines of credit, repaid by daily or weekly direct debits from your bank account, excluding weekends and holidays. A merchant cash advance takes a share of card takings instead, so repayments fall in a quiet week; Bizcap's fixed debits do not.

What are Bizcap’s eligibility criteria?

For its fast and small business loans: at least 4 months trading, £12,000 monthly revenue and an active company registration. Its startup FAQ says five months' trading instead, so expect four to five. Lines of credit need 9 months trading and £20,000 monthly revenue.

What factor rate does Bizcap charge?

Bizcap does not publish its factor rates or its establishment fee. It says price is set by a factor rate, a fixed fee applied over the term, plus an establishment fee agreed upfront. Ask for both in pounds and add them together for the true cost.

Does Bizcap do a credit check?

Conditional offer without a credit check; a hard check runs before the offer becomes unconditional. So asking for a conditional offer leaves no hard search; the hard check comes before the offer is confirmed.

Is Bizcap regulated?

Bizcap's site says it is registered with the FCA for anti-money-laundering purposes only (reference 994366, per its site footer). That is not regulation of its loans, so do not assume FCA protections or Financial Ombudsman cover.

Where is Bizcap from?

Founded in Australia in 2019, since expanded to New Zealand and the UK. The UK company is Bizcap Limited, company number 14591050, incorporated 13 January 2023 as Finbiz Funding Limited, 50 Broadway, London SW1H 0DB, per Companies House.
