Loyverse Review UK: What Is Actually Free
Loyverse POS is free to use as a till in the UK, and the paid extras cost £5 to £20 a month per store. Card payments are the real cost: UK merchants connect a SumUp or Zettle reader and pay that provider's rate, so a small shop on Loyverse plus SumUp pays only the card fees.

What is Loyverse POS?
Loyverse is a free point of sale app for small shops, cafés, bars and salons. It runs on Android or iOS phones and tablets, and the free plan includes a basic stock count, a loyalty scheme and a kitchen display. Loyverse's pricing page lists no hardware and no contract: you bring the tablet, any printer you want, and a card reader from a supported provider.

Which card machines integrate with Loyverse in the UK?
Two: SumUp and Zettle. Both integration pages list the United Kingdom, and in each case the card reader connects to the Loyverse POS app over Bluetooth and the sale amount is sent to it, so staff do not retype the total. Loyverse's own card service is live only in Belgium, Switzerland and the United States (not the UK). Shift4 integration is listed for New Zealand and Australia only.
Any other card machine, including a rented countertop terminal from a bank, can be used alongside Loyverse, but the amount is keyed in by hand and the payment marked separately in the till. That is fine at a few sales an hour and error-prone at a lunchtime rush.
Worked example: the £5,000 a month shop
- Loyverse free plan + SumUp pay-as-you-go: £0 + (£5,000 × 1.69%) = £84.50/month
- Loyverse free plan + Zettle: £0 + (£5,000 × 1.75%) = £87.50/month
- Adding employee management and advanced inventory on monthly billing: £20 + £20 + £84.50 = £124.50/month
- Paying for those two add-ons yearly instead: (£40 × 12) − £400 = £80 a year saved
The till software is the cheapest part of this setup. On £5,000 a month, the card rate is where the money goes, and a flat 1.69% gets expensive as takings grow. Once card sales pass a few thousand pounds a month, check whether a monthly-fee card plan would beat it; our free statement review does that sum for you.
Who Loyverse suits
A single shop, café or stall that wants stock and sales reports without a monthly bill, and is happy with SumUp or Zettle for cards. It suits less well a busy restaurant needing table plans and coursing, or a business tied into a bank terminal it cannot integrate. For those, compare SumUp POS, Toast and the full list in EPOS systems compared.

Frequently asked questions
Is Loyverse POS really free?
The till is. Loyverse's pricing page lists point of sale, sales analytics (last 31 days), essential inventory, loyalty programme, customer display, kitchen display, multi-store management and integrations as free. You pay only if you add unlimited sales history (£5/month), employee management (£20/month) or advanced inventory (£20/month), all per store, excluding taxes, each with a 14-day free trial (checked 1 November 2026).
Which card readers work with Loyverse in the UK?
SumUp and Zettle. Loyverse's integration pages list the United Kingdom for both, and the card reader connects to the Loyverse POS app over Bluetooth and the sale amount is sent to it. Loyverse's own payments service is live only in Belgium, Switzerland and the United States (not the UK).
What does Loyverse charge on card payments?
Not published (Loyverse lists no fee of its own on integrated card payments). You pay your card provider's rate: 1.69% with SumUp pay-as-you-go or 1.75% with Zettle, which is £84.50 or £87.50 on £5,000 a month.
Can I use Loyverse with any card machine?
Only SumUp and Zettle are integrated for UK merchants. Any other card machine can sit next to the till, but the amount has to be keyed into it by hand and the payment recorded separately in Loyverse.
What does Loyverse run on?
Android or iOS phones and tablets. Loyverse does not sell its own terminal, so a cheap Android tablet and a SumUp reader are enough to start.
