Teya card machine review
Teya has no published rate any more: since its price list came down, every business gets a quote. What it does publish is good, with machines from £14.99/month, no fixed term and next-day payouts seven days a week, so Teya is worth a quote, provided you hold it against the numbers below.
Verdict
The contract terms are among the friendliest of the terminal providers we track. The price is a black box until you ask. At £5,000 a month, accept a Teya quote only if the all-in rate is 1.2% or lower; above 1.39% you would pay more than SumUp.

Teya pricing in November 2026
In August 2026 teya.com/pricing showed a Start plan at 1.59% on consumer cards; by 1 November 2026 that plan had gone from the page. The page now reads: Rates quoted per business: "No standard price list". Teya says it looks at your volume, sector and average transaction, then quotes a rate. Teya asks you to share a recent statement to get a quote. Older reviews that quote a Teya percentage are describing a price list that no longer exists.

| Contract | The general terms run until you or Teya end them; no fixed term is stated |
Source: teya.com, checked 1 November 2026. The card machines page says "Machines from £14.99/month" without naming the device or saying whether that is rental or an instalment.
Teya card machine options
Teya sells three devices: Teya Pro, Teya Go and Teya Lite. The pricing page lists a lifetime warranty covering theft and water damage, 200+ EPOS integrations and Tap to Pay on your phone. Delivered within 48 hours; Teya verifies new customers in 1 to 3 business days. Ask which device the £14.99/month price buys, and whether you are hiring it or buying it, because the general terms treat the two differently when you leave.
What rate to accept: the £5,000 a month shop
With no published rate, the useful number is the ceiling: the highest all-in rate at which Teya still costs less than the alternatives. For the house example, a shop taking £5,000 a month, with Teya’s cheapest machine at £14.99/month:
- SumUp pay as you go (1.69%): £5,000 × 1.69% = £84.50
- Dojo (1.2% blended, Dojo Wired rented): £5,000 × 1.2% = £60.00, plus £15.00 for the Dojo Wired = £75.00
- To beat SumUp: (£84.50 − £14.99) ÷ £5,000 = 1.39% maximum
- To match Dojo: (£75.00 − £14.99) ÷ £5,000 = 1.2% maximum
- Settling to your own bank instead of Teya’s: £5,000 × 0.10% = £5.00 more a month
Ask for the quote as one all-in percentage across every card type, or as a list per card type that you can apply to your last statement. A rate quoted only for UK debit cards tells you little.
Teya contract and cancellation
This is where Teya earns its place. No long-term contract; "No hidden charges. No lock-ins. No small print." The general terms back that up. The general terms run until you or Teya end them; no fixed term is stated. You can end the agreement by closing your account or by written notice; no notice period is set. Two things to know before you sign:
- Return non-purchased hardware within 7 working days of ending the agreement. You must reimburse the value of leased hardware that is damaged, destroyed or lost, allowing for fair wear and tear.
- Recurring fees are non-refundable, with no refunds for part-used subscription periods. Teya can revise fees by notice, effective on the date in the notice; carrying on counts as acceptance.
Leaving step by step, including the hardware return, is in our guide to cancelling Teya.
Payouts and the Teya Business Account
Instant Settlements (Teya Business Account only), everyday settlement including weekends, or next working day. The catch is where the money lands. Teya settles into its own Business Account. Settling to a bank account other than the Teya Business Account adds 10 basis points (0.10%) to the transaction fees. Teya Solutions Ltd is authorised by the FCA under the Electronic Money Regulations 2011 (reference 978181), and the Teya Business Account is an e-money account, so the FSCS does not protect it. If you keep large balances, sweep them to your bank.
Teya reviews and who runs it
Teya is the rebranded SaltPay. The account is provided by Teya Services Ltd (company number 12271069), 41 Lothbury, London EC2R 7HF. Teya Europe Ltd has been the person with significant control of Retail Merchant Services Limited (06079704) since 20 December 2024, so if you are with RMS you are already inside the Teya group; see our Retail Merchant Services review. Teya or Dojo?
Dojo publishes a 1.2% blended rate for businesses with annual card turnover below £100,000; Teya does not publish one. If Teya’s quote lands under the ceiling above and you value the lack of a term, take it. If not, the published rate is the safer bet. The full head-to-head is in Teya vs Dojo, and Teya’s short profile is at /providers/teya.

Teya questions
How much does a Teya card machine cost?
Teya’s card machines page says "Machines from £14.99/month". It does not say which device that price is for or whether it is rental. The transaction rate is not published: Teya quotes each business after looking at its volume, sector and average sale.
Does Teya have a contract?
Not a fixed one. The general terms run until you or Teya end them; no fixed term is stated. You can end the agreement by closing your account or by written notice; no notice period is set. If you hired rather than bought the machine, return non-purchased hardware within 7 working days of ending the agreement. Recurring fees are non-refundable, with no refunds for part-used subscription periods.
When does Teya pay out?
Next day, every day, weekends and bank holidays included, into the Teya Business Account. Settling to a bank account other than the Teya Business Account adds 10 basis points (0.10%) to the transaction fees: £5.00 a month on £5,000 of takings.
What rate should I accept from Teya?
At £5,000 a month, with the machine at £14.99/month, a Teya quote needs to be 1.39% or less to beat SumUp’s 1.69%, and 1.2% or less to match Dojo (1.2% blended, Dojo Wired rented).
Is Teya the same as SaltPay?
Yes, Teya is the rebranded SaltPay. Teya Europe Ltd has been the person with significant control of Retail Merchant Services Limited (06079704) since 20 December 2024, so Retail Merchant Services (RMS) is part of the same group.
